Kitab al-Hind
(Describing India)
   A famous Arabic text written by Abu Rehan Alberuni (973-1048) wherein he comments on Indian sciences, Hindu religious beliefs, customs, and social organization. These topics were studied by him from consultation with authorita-tive Sanskrit texts with the help of scholarly Brahmans then present in the Ghaznavid towns of Ghazni and Lahore.
